Baby Constipation
You may not know this, but constipation in babies is very
common. Babies that are breastfed actually have constipation
less. That is because the breast milk is pretty much all digested
and used in the growing baby's body. For people who do not
breastfeed, you may be dealing with a little bit of infant
constipation. Today we are going to talk about the different
things that can cause infant constipation, as well as some
baby constipation remedies that you may want to use. You will
see that baby constipation relief is not too hard to find!
Just like us, there are a few different things that can cause
infant constipation. The first thing is the introduction of
solid foods. When you first start giving your baby solid foods
for the first time, you may be dealing with a little constipation.
There is not much that you can do to avoid this from happening.
Also, babies that have diets that are low in fiber have a
higher chance (just like we do) of having constipation. Babies
that only eat dairy products have a good chance to get constipation
as well. The funny thing is that this is the main cause of
constipation in adults as well. Last, but not least, foods
like cereals, breads, white potatoes, and bananas can cause
constipation in babies.
Now that you know that infant constipation is something that
is pretty common, you need to know some baby constipation
remedies. The first thing that we will talk about works for
adults, as well as kids. Giving your baby a very gentle massage
on their tummy (in a clockwise direction) can help to cure
constipation. The best way to do this is to place your hand
on the baby's bellybutton, and then massage in a circular
motion. While doing this, be sure that you are slowly moving
your hands away from the center of the baby's belly.
If that does not work, then you need to find ways to relax
the baby's muscles. This can be done easily by giving the
baby a warm bath. Many professionals suggest that giving a
baby a warm bath is the best baby constipation relief treatment
out there. It also helps, when you get done giving them a
bath, to give them a message as well. Warm baths are good
for everyone, and this includes adults. It relaxes the muscles
and lets things flow more naturally. This is why most babies
are known to pee in bath water. This just proves how relaxing
it can be.
Last, but not least, exercise is a good way to cure constipation
in babies. However, babies cannot go out and work out or go
running like we can. There is one thing that you can do, however,
to help cure the constipation, and this also works for gassy
babies as well. Lay your baby on the floor, and bend their
legs in the half bent position. Then, very gently, start to
move your baby's feet like it was using a bicycle. This is
called the bicycle legs. It is a good way to give constipation
relief to babies.
