Symptoms of Constipation
You, at some point in your life, are going to have to deal
with constipation. This is not because you do not watch your
diet well enough, and it's not because you do not exercise.
The simple fact remains, at times, we all have constipation.
However, there are two different kinds of constipation you
should watch out for. There is the constipation that you get
that you take care of yourself. Then there is the constipation
that you get that you should go see a doctor for. Today we
are going to talk about some of the symptoms of constipation
that you may have. On top of that, we are going to talk about
looking for signs of constipation that may need a doctor's
help as well.
Normal constipation happens all the time. The first thing
to note is, just because you do not have a bowel movement
every day, does not mean that you have constipation. The symptoms
of constipation normally are a bit worse than that. For example,
symptoms of constipation include passing less than two to
three stools per week. Not only that, but if you have stools
that are hard more often than soft, then you could have constipation.
Other times, you may have a feeling of not being able to pass
the whole stool when having a bathroom movement.
The bad news is that some of us feel like this from time
to time. The good news is that these are just signs of normal
constipation. At times, you may have some signs that mean
you should go see a doctor. If you have to go see a doctor,
then you are more than likely having to deal with chronic
constipation. Most of the time, if you are having constipation
for longer than three weeks, then you need to go see your
doctor. Also, if you have signs of constipation that do not
clear up in three weeks, then you might as well go see your
doctor then too. Sometimes there could be another health problem
that is causing your constipation.
Some other signs of constipation, that could mean you need
to go see your doctor, include some of the following. If you
have bowel movements that only occur about every three days
for a long time, then you could need to go see a doctor. If
changes in your diet do not seem to help at all, then you
may need to go see a doctor as well. Intense abdominal pain
is another sign that something could be wrong. One of the
main things to look for is blood in your stool. If it's dark,
dry blood, that is not a good sign. Other symptoms of constipation
could include rectal pain and very thin stools. These thin
stools normally come out about the size of a penile. Last,
but not least, if you have a lot of weight loss while being
constipated, then you could have a big problem. Be sure to
go see your doctor right away.
People have to deal with constipation all the time. At least
now you know the signs and symptoms of constipation. Being
able to keep an eye out for these things could help you catch
your constipation quicker.
