Digestive System Diseases

The digestive system is pretty easy to understand. That is why it seems so odd that so many things can go wrong with it. In fact, there are a ton of different digestive system disease problems out there. Not only that, but most of them are common digestive system diseases! Today we are going to go over a few of these diseases of the digestive system. When we get done you should know more about some of the more common digestive system diseases that are out there.

The first one that we are going to talk about is irritable bowel syndrome, also called IBS. This is one of the most frequent diseases of the digestive system in women who are under 35. Most of the time, IBS starts in late adolescence. There are many things that can cause this digestive system disease. Most of the time it is just caused by psychological stress that could be marked by some kind of abnormal activity. The problem with knowing if you have IBS is the fact that a lot of its symptoms are the same to those of other illnesses. A lot of people think that they have IBS, only to find out later that it is not. The symptoms of this digestive system disease are things like abdominal discomfort, periodic diarrhea or constipation, and having diarrhea and constipation that alternates back and forth. One of the main problems here is that the people that have this disease tend to rely too much on laxatives.

The next one that we are going to talk about is known as inflamed bowel syndrome, which also goes by other names. This is another one of the very common digestive system diseases. It is normally found in men who are over 40 years of age. It is found in more than 50% of people who are over the age of 60. Most of the time this disease remains unnoticed until it starts to bleed and inflammation occurs. It is usually marked by constipation and diarrhea that alternate back and forth. This disease comes about, because there is a weak part in the wall of your colon. When this area becomes inflamed, it causes severe pain and fever. Most of the time it is also going to cause nausea and vomiting. The bleeding comes from small vessels that become disrupted as the colon becomes inflamed. Sometimes this can cause a lot of intestinal bleeding. The best way to fix this problem is to have a liquid diet and some stool softener. After the problem is gone, be sure to eat foods that are high in fiber to keep this from happening again.

As you can see, there are a ton of different digestive problems out there. The digestive system works pretty simply, and most of us understand it. However, that does not mean that things can not go wrong. Be sure to try and eat healthy to avoid most of these diseases. After all, this is not something that you have to go through if you do not want to. Most people just do not eat the way that they are suppose to eat.
