Symptoms of Colon Polyps
What Are The Symptoms Of Colon Polyps
There are a lot of problems that you can have with your colon.
You can be blocked up, have cancer, and in some cases, you
may have to take your colon out. However, there is one problem
that a lot of people are starting to have, and that is colon
polyps. So what are colon polyps anyway? Well, these are growths
in the colon, and although they are not actually dangerous
by themselves, they can lead to a lot of other problems. You
see, colon polyps are growths in the colon. These can cause
fecal matter to get built up behind them. This can also lead
to colon cancer. It is said that people who have colon polyps
are actually a lot more likely to have colon cancer when they
get older, however, it's not a 100% sure fire thing. Today
we are going to talk about what kind of symptoms of colon
polyps you should look for.
The first thing to note about symptoms of colon polyps is
that a lot of people do not even know they have them. In fact,
most colon polyps will not give you any symptoms at all, unless
they are larger than 1 cm, or .4 inches. They may give you
some problems if they are cancerous, but once again, that
may not happen until you are older. The symptoms that come
from such a thing are usually rectal bleeding. This is because,
as fecal matter passes by the colon polyps, it pushes on it.
Over time, this upsets the colon polyps, and it can cause
bleeding. In some cases, the bleeding may not be seen. Sometimes
you have to do a screening test on a stool to see if you can
find any blood. This is known as a FOBT Test, which stands
for fecal occult blood test. Most of the time, you will have
no pain from the colon polyps, and on top of that, they may
or may not cause any kind of change in bowel moments. That
is the main problem with these colon problems. In fact, most
of the time, you are not going to even notice that you have
colon polyps until it is big enough to cause problems. That
is why they are usually not removed before they become too
big.
Once cancer develops on the colon polyps, there are other
problems that can come about. One of the main ones would,
of course, be weight loss and a huge change in your bowel
habits. If you start to notice these kinds of changes, you
need to go talk to your doctor. Only your doctor will be able
to help you determine if you have colon cancer or not. If
you do, there is a good chance that you are going to have
to have that section of your colon taken out. Of course, that
is not always the case, and it changes for everyone. You would
have to wait and see what your doctor feels is the right away
to deal with that kind of problem. Over time, you may notice
that colon polyps is a problem that causes bigger problems.
The actual colon polyps will not kill you. However, some of
the things that can come about because of it can.
