Male Yeast Infection
Male Yeast Infection
We all know that it is very possible for women to get yeast
infections. This is a very common problem for most women and
something that they have learned to deal with and treat. However,
can men get male yeast infections? Male yeast infections are
not something that you hear a lot about, so most people think
that there is no such thing as a male yeast infection. However,
that is not the case! In fact, if a man has unprotected sex
with a partner that has a genital yeast infection, then it
is possible for the male to get that as well. So now you know
that men can get genital yeast infections as well, but why
do we not hear more about it? Although you can get a yeast
infection from a girlfriend that has a yeast infection, it
is very uncommon. In fact, just because your partner has a
yeast infection does not mean that you are even going to get
it at all. Thus, you do not hear much about male yeast infection
treatment options, because not that many people have to deal
with it in the first place.
There are a few things that can increase your chances of
getting a male yeast infection. For example, men that have
a prolonged use of antibiotics will have an increased risk
for a yeast infection. Also, men that have diabetes or an
impaired immune system can be set up to get male yeast infections
more often. In fact, you hear that a lot of people who have
HIV end up with male yeast infections. Of course, how do you
know if you have a male yeast infection or not?
The signs and symptoms of a male yeast infection are very
easy to spot. Most of the time, you are going to see a reddish
rash that forms at the tip of the penis. Also, the male is
going to feel a lot of itching and burning at the tip of the
penis as well. The good news is that male yeast infections
are very easily treated. In fact, most of them can be treated
with simple over-the-counter anti-fungal medications. One
of the most common for men to use is Monistat. Although this
is known as a treatment for women, men can use it as well.
All the men has to do is apply the medication to the affected
area of skin. They should do this twice daily for a week or
so. You will notice that the rash should go away with ease.
If one person in a relationship has a yeast infection, then
they should get treatment. In fact, both people should get
treated, because you will just keep passing it back and forth
to each other. Of course, you should keep in mind that just
because the girl gets it, does not mean that the guy gets
it. Be sure to look for the different signs and symptoms that
we talked about. Doctors are also going to tell you to refrain
from any kind of sexual intercourse until after the infection
is gone.
